Gestern kam die Winterausgabe der Interweave Knits hier an und ich habe mich sogleich an mein favorisiertes Modell gemacht, den Refined Raglan. Seit Wochen schon denke ich, daß ich den stricken möchte und zwar mit meiner Curry-gelben Drops Alpaka. Also provisorisch angeschlagen und immerhin soweit gekommen, daß ich heute morgen eigentlich den Bündchenumschlag zuusammenstricken wollte. Aber wie heißt es doch so schön in der Anleitung: be careful not to twist stitches… Wie ihr auf dem Bild erkennen könnt, war ich offensichtlich nicht vorsichtig genug, denn natürlich ist das Gestricke verdreht. Nun werde ich es halt wieder aufziehen, ist ja nicht weiter tragisch, da alles nur glatt rechts. Ebenso ist gerade neuer Lesestoff angekommen: The Lacy Knitting of Mary Schiffmann.

Yesterday arrived my issue of Interweave Knits Winter 2006 and a few minutes later I casted on for my favorite pattern: Refined Raglan. I use my Drops Alpaca in Curry. I knitted until the part to knit together the hem (I wanted to this part this morning) and now look: although I read the sentence “be careful not to twist stitches” I just realize that I twisted the stitches perfectly! Let’s rib again or let’s make a Moebius-Sweater! At least the postie brought me a new book: The Lacy Knitting of Mary Schiffmann.

Und dann fiel doch heute Nacht im ARD Nachtmagazin auf einmal das Wort Stitch’n Bitch und es wurde über dieses Nähcafé in Berlin berichtet!

Last night suddenly I heard in a German newscast the term Stitch’n Bitch and they told about this sewing café in Berlin!

Es ist vollbracht! Gestern abend habe ich nichts anderes gemacht als das Ding zusammengenäht und nun habe ich einen Wanderlust ohne Hoodie. Ich mag ihn: er ist sehr warm und passt prima und die fehlende Kapuze verdränge ich einfach ;-). Tut mir leid für die miesen Fotos, es wird heute gar nicht hell…

It’s finished! Last night I sewed the Wanderlust pieces and now I have a Wanderlust without Hoodie. And I like it: it’s warm and it fits well and I ignore the missing hood. Unfortunately today the weather is so bad, there isn’t enough light for good pictures…

Anleitung: Interweave Knits Herbst 2006
Wolle: Irischer Tweed, 100% Schurwolle, ca. 700g, NS 6.

Pattern: Interweave Knits Fall 2006
Yarn: Irish Tweed, 100% wool, approx. 700g, needles size 6mm.

Ein paar Änderungen habe ich vorgenommen: wie man sieht, leider keine Kapuze wegen Wollknappheit. Und dann habe ich die Ärmel so gestrickt, wie sie im Heft drin stehen. Auf dem Foto im Heft ist die andere Ärmelvariante zu sehen, die nur online verfügbar ist. Aber diese Glockenvariante gefällt mir gar nicht. Außerdem habe ich die Ärmel etwas länger gestrickt, so kann ich variieren: bei der Arbeit kann ich sie einmal umschlagen und draußen kann ich sie lang tragen. Den Kragen habe ich einfach mit den stillgelegten Maschen, die für die Kapuze vorgesehen waren und aufgenommenen Maschen aus dem hinteren Halsausschnitt im Perlmuster gestrickt.

I changed a few things: you can see: no hood, because I hadn’t enough wool. Instead I kni a collar in seed stitch. And I knitted the sleeves like in the pattern in the magazine. You can see on the picture in the magazine another version, the pattern for this version you can find here. But I don’t like this bell shaping. And I made the sleeves an inch longer than in pattern, so I can vary the sleeves: at work I can turn up them and when it’s really cold I can wear them long.

Because my hostess was afraid that I stopped to write in English just a little translation, late but it was a short and boring post about Wanderlust Hoodie.
Wanderlust Hoodie is finished! But it hasn’t a hood because I have not enough wool. I bought the wool last year in Ebay and so I had no chance to get more. I knitted a collar and I think it’s ok now. I washed and blocked it last night and this evening I’ll start to sew it. So I hope to post soon a picture of the complete sweater. For today a picture of the cat on the blocked sleeve

So, Wanderlust Hoodie befindet sich in Einzelteilen in der Waschmaschine und wird heute noch gespannt. Ich denke, ich habe den Kragen nun einigermaßen hinbekommen, die Wolle hätte nie im Leben für die Kapuze gereicht! Und da ich die Wolle vor über einem Jahr bei Ebay gekauft habe und die Verkäuferin keine mehr hatte, war auch keine Chance, davon noch was zu besorgen. Nun habe ich also einen Pulli (achja, zusammennähen muß ich ihn ja auch noch 😉 ), den ich nur wegen der Kapuze angeschlagen habe und der nun keine hat Aber warm ist er!

Ich bin gut mit dem Wanderlust Hoodie vorangekommen: was ihr hier seht sind Vorder- und Rückenteil, ein fertiger und ein halber Ärmel.

Was ihr noch seht ist die Wolle, die mir noch bleibt… Und das heißt: der Wanderlust Hoodie wird höchstwahrscheinlich keine Kapuze bekommen, weil dazu die Wolle nicht reicht! Jetzt bin ich schon am Überlegen, wie ich das Kragenproblem löse.

Gestern ist sogar mir klar geworden, daß es kalt geworden ist. Und auch, daß ich nichts zum Anziehen habe! Was soll ich jetzt mit süßen Jäckchen mit tausend musternden Löchern drin? Also habe ich mich des Wanderlust Hoodies angenommen, der ja doch schon seit einigen Wochen in der Ecke lag. Mit Erfolg: von der Kälte angetrieben ist nun das Rückenteil fertig und das Vorderteil zur Hälfte und je mehr Mühe ich in diese Verzopfungen und Böbbels stecke, desto besser gefällt er mir!

Yesterday I realized: it’s fall and it’s cold now and I have no warm clothes! What about all these little cute cardigans with a lace pattern when the cold and the wind come through all the pattern’s holes? This was the moment of the Wanderlust Hoodie! For weeks I didn’t care about it, but now -the cold make me knit fast!- back is finished and the half of the front. And it becomes a deep friendship between the Hoodie and me although all these bobbles and cables or perhaps that’s the point!

Zur Fingerentspannung stricke ich noch wie wild am zweiten schwarzen unfotografierbaren Geburtstagssocken für meinen Vater.

To relax my fingers I’m knitting the second black father’s-birthday-sock.

Ich habe heute das traumhafte Wetter genutzt und war wandern. Es war phantastisch!

Today it was so wonderful weather that I have to go out for a hiking. It was great!

Mir gefällt er! Aber er ist ein bißchen klein, obwohl ich ihn schon größer als in der Anleitung gestrickt habe, danke an Andrea, die mir ihre Chartwiederholung verraten hat!

I like it although the shawl is a little bit small. I repeated the first chart more than in pattern, thanks to Andrea who told me her experiences with knitting this shawl!

Gestern ist der Swallowtail Shawl fertig geworden, ging ruckzuck. Angesichts des trüben Wetters glaube ich ja, daß er ewig zum Trocknen brauchen wird, deshalb schon mal ein Bild des ungespannten Schals. Alle Infos dann wieder mit dem „offiziellen“ Bild 😉

Yesterday I finished the Swallowtail Shawl, it was a fast knitting. Because the weather is bad I believe that it will take a long time to get dry. That’s why you get a picture of the unblocked shawl. All facts about it will be published when I take the „official“ picture 😉
