Altes und Neues

Was ihr hier seht sind die Strickereien der letzten Tage: Ich habe endlich Sadie wieder ausgegraben und nun sind auch die Vorderteile und ein Ärmel fertig. Was nun kommt ist Hoffen und Bangen: laut meinen Berechnungen müßte die Wolle für den zweiten Ärmel reichen, ich hätte dann einen Rest von 10 Gramm… Vielleicht sollte ich gleich mal nach einem Knäuel fahnden: es ist Rowan Yorkshire Tweed 4 ply, Farbe 268, Partie 30F5 – hat jemand von euch ein Knäuel übrig und will es mir verkaufen? Sonst muß ich bis Ende Februar warten und in London danach suchen.  Hat sich erledigt, danke Claudia, habe ich echt nicht ans Naheliegendste gedacht 😉 Janette hatte tatsächlich noch die passende Partie!!
Darauf liegt der erste der Marko’s Mittens, allerdings noch ohne Daumen, die hebe ich mir bis zum Schluß auf. Ich habe mir die Finger nicht gebrochen 😉 Aber nur deshalb, weil ich auf meinen Strickfingerhut (nennt man das so??) zurückgegriffen habe. So sehr ich bewundere, wie z.B. Andrea rechts und links gleichzeitig strickt – für meine Motorik ist das nix. Und so mit beiden Farben links geht es eigentlich ganz gut.

Here are the knittings of the last few days: I reactivated Sadie and now the body and one sleeve are finished. The next is hope and worry: if my calculation is right there’s enough wool for the second sleeve and a leftover with 10 grams… But perhaps are my calculations wrong and therefor I’m asking you now: is there somebody out there with a ball of Rowan Yorkshire Tweed 4 ply, color 268, lot 30F5 and you want to sell it to me? Otherwise I have to wait until February when I’ll be in London again and comb the city.  That’s been taken care of now, thanks Claudia, I didn’t think of the obvious thing: Janette still has this lot!!
On Sadie you can see the first of Marko’s Mittens without the thumb, I will knit the thumbs at last. I didn’t broke my fingers, but it’s hard to knit with two colors. I tried to knit with one color on the left hand and with the other on the right hand (like Andrea can knit and I admire her for this!) but this didn’t work with my motor activity. Now I use a knitting thimble so I have both colors on the left hand and it works passable.

Eine Auszeit…

…habe ich mir heute genommen und bin wandern gegangen. Nach zwei Tagen Familienmarathon war das auch dringend nötig. Solch geballte Innigkeit ist nicht ganz nach meinem Geschmack. Also heute den Rucksack gepackt und ab auf die Alb, wo erfreulich wenig Menschen unterwegs waren 😉 Dafür war es schön kalt, so daß doch noch ein wenig Winterstimmung aufkam:

Today I needed a time out from all this family meetings. I’m not the person for such concentrated closeness. And so I took my rucksack and went for a hiking tour on the Swabian Jura where fortunately I saw not many other people 😉 It was icy cold, I love this winter mood:

Und alles war gut und ich hatte es schön warm, weil ich meine neue Mütze auf hatte 😉

So all was fine and nice and warm because I wore my new hat 😉

Punktlandung

Ganz gemütlich ohne Streß ist das Weihnachtsgeschenk für meine Mutter gestern fertig geworden. Über Nacht geblockt und nun bereit eingepackt zu werden: ein Swallowtail Shawl (Interweave Knits Herbst 2006) aus Drops Alpaca in Wollweiß.

Very relaxed I finished last night the Christmas gift for my mother: Swallowtail Shawl (Interweave Knits Fall 2006) made from Drops Alpaca in white.

Und daneben blieb noch Zeit für ein Paar Strümpfe in Grau zusätzlich für meinen Vater.

And I had enough time to knit a pair of gray socks for my father additional to his gift.

Auch gestern habe ich die Marko’s Mittens (Nancy Bush: Folk Knitting in Estonia) angeschlagen. Die sollen ja noch dieses Jahr fertig werden, damit ich sagen kann, daß ich das Projekt Susan-lernt-mit-zwei-Farben-stricken wenigstens in Angriff genommen habe. Aber wie ihr seht mußte ich schon das erste Mal ribbeln…

Also yesterday I casted on the Marko’s Mittens (Nancy Bush: Folk Knitting in Estonia). The mittens should be finished this year because I want to say: yes, I started to learn to knit with two colors. But you can see: I had to rip the first time…

Aber nun wünsche ich euch schöne Weihnachten!

Vorratshaltung

Gerade komme ich von der Post, wo ich ein Paket abgeholt habe und bin begeistert: keine allzu lange Schlange und ein äußerst gut gelaunter Mensch, der mir neben meinem Paket auch noch einen Schoko-Nikolaus überreicht hat, ist die Post krank? Habe mir noch etwas Sockenwolle gegönnt: einige gedeckte Farben aber auch ein paar der neuen Regia Uni und natürlich ein Knäuel der Trecking Ombre, weil mir ja noch für meine Weihnachtsferien Handschuhe in diesem Stil vorschweben.

Just in moment I come back from the post office where I picked up a parcel. To my surprise it wasn’t as full as I expected and I didn’t get only the parcel but a chocolate Santa from the staff who was in a good mood – perhaps the German Post is sick?
Some new sock yarn: subdued colors and some balls of the new Regia colors and one ball of Trecking Ombre because in my free time I want to knit such wonderful mittens too.

Geschenke, die man sich selbst macht

Ich habe meine persönliche Bescherung gestern zelebriert und befinde mich nun in einem Zustand der größten Glückseligkeit!
Zuerst kam -von Onkel Amazon in einem Rekordtempo geliefert- „Victorian Lace Today“: ein so schönes Buch! Sowohl der Inhalt als auch die hervorragende Aufmachung. Ich habe ja schon tausend Ideen, wie ich das nächste Jahr Lace-strickend verbringe 😉

Yesterday I celebrated my personal opening of Christmas gifts and I’m in a blissful state!
First a new book arrived: „Victorian Lace Today“. Such a great book! Wonderful patterns and a very good finish. I have thousands of ideas how to spend the next year with knitting Lace 😉

Dann habe ich die an Weihnachten zu erwartenden Geldgeschenke in eine neue Digitalkamera investiert und schwelge im Glück, denn in Zukunft wird es hier bessere Bilder zu sehen geben. Ausprobiert habe ich die Kamera an den grauen Socken, die ich gerade für meinen Vater stricke:

Und nun habe ich freie Zeit ohne Ende und kann lesen, stricken und mit der Kamera spielen und mich an meinen Geschenken freuen :-)

And now there are free days without work until January and I can read, knit and try out the new camera – I’m so happy about my gifts :-)

Weihnachtsstrümpfe

Das erste der zwei gestrickten Weihnachtsgeschenke ist gestern Abend fertig geworden: Die Wanderkniestrümpfe für C. Gebraucht habe ich 121g der Mega Boots Stretch.

Last night I finished the first of two knitted Christmas gifts: knee-lenght socks for my hiking partner C. Mega Boots Stretch, 121g.

Und sobald ich den heutigen Tag überstanden habe, kann ich das zweite Weihnachtsgeschenk in Angriff nehmen: ein Swallowtail Shawl für meine Mutter.
Aber wie gesagt: erst muß ich heute noch durchhalten, vormittags habe ich noch den dritten Teil eines Intensivkurses zu halten und dann geht es mit zu wenig Schlaf und ohne Pause zur Geburtstagsfeier meiner Nichte. Aber ab morgen beginnt für mich eine Erholungsphase, die auch dringend nötig ist, da mein Vorrat an sozialer Kompetenz für dieses Jahr aufgebraucht ist 😉

I have to survive this day and then I can start the next gift: a Swallowtail Shawl for my mum. But first I have to hold the third part of a class this morning and after this I have to go to the birthday party of my niece without a break but with not enough hours of sleep. But tomorrow will start the relaxing part of the year and I need this time because I think I do not have a tiny bit of social competence anymore 😉

Ersatznadel

Ihr erinnert euch vielleicht: in London habe ich mir Brittany-Nadelspiele gekauft und gleich beim ersten Testen ist mir eine Nadel zerbrochen. Judith hat mir freundlicherweise im Kommentar den Tip gegeben, daß man Ersatznadeln bekommt und tatsächlich: heute kam ein kleiner Umschlag mit der Ersatznadel, so ist mein 2,25-Nadelspiel wieder komplett und ich bin schwer begeistert von diesem Service!!

Do you remember? I bought Brittany needles in London and after a few minutes the first needle broke. Judith told me in a comment that it’s possible to get a replacement and really today arrived my replacement needle! So I can knit again with the 2.25mm needles and I am totally enthusiastic about this service!!

Die Kälte kann kommen!

Hier seht ihr meine Strickereien der letzten Tage: zwei Paar Kleinkindersocken aus Resten Mega Boots Stretch und einen angefangenen Kniestrumpf, denn meine Wanderfreundin C. ist neidisch auf meine Kniestrümpfe 😉

Here are my knitting projects of the last days: two pairs of socks for little kids, made from leftovers of Mega Boots Stretch and the begin of another pair of knee-length socks for my hiking partner C. because she’s jealous at mine 😉

Was hier auf dem Bild aussieht wie eine kleine Tasche ist mein neues Lieblingsstück für mein Outdoor-Dasein: ein Ding, das man je nach Wetterlage als Schal oder Mütze tragen kann. Inspiriert wurde ich von Malagaiter aus der Magknits. Aussehen tut es ganz anders. Es ist ein Schlauch 1R-1L gestrickt, in 30cm Höhe habe ich einen Tunnel für das I-Cord-Band gestrickt und dann nochmal 10 Reihen gerippt für den „Puschel“ oben. Angeschlagen habe ich 160 Maschen, benutzt habe ich die gleiche Mega Boots Stretch für meine letzten Kniestrümpfe, Verbrauch: 72g und NS 3.

The thing on the picture which looks like a little bag is my new favorite item for my outdoor life: you can wear it as a scarf or as a hat depending on the weather. I was inspired by Malagaiter from Magknits. But it looks different. I casted on 160 stitches, knitting 1k-1p until the piece measures 30cm, then I knit a row k2t-yo for the i-cord and then again ten rows rips for the bunchy-thingy on top. It’s the same yarn I used for my last knee-length socks, Mega Boots Stretch, 72g, needle size 3mm.
